Thoughts about the past, thoughts about the furture.

Every year when the old year ends and the new year begins, it is normal for people to reflect on what has gone before and what they expect from the new year.

So what did I learn in 2010?

Size does not matter.
Neotel learnt that even having giant TATA in their corner did not help. Consumers refused to put up with bad service, a lousy product and broken promises and Neotel finds itself retrenching staff.

The Squeaky Wheel gets the Oil.
Julius Malama managed to remain newsworthy by annoying people.

A Change is a good as a holiday.
Tony Leon, was not a leader and it is my belief that the DA suffered under his leadership, but has gone from strength to strength under Helen Zille

Big Business is not our friend.
If we can get screwed over basic food prices, what else are we getting screwed on?

What do I expect 2011 to bring, – truth is I don’t know but am ready to see what happens. I am a year older and hope, a year wiser, so 2011 – here I come!

I have to believe that many people have been burnt in this recession and if you look at the explosive response to the Standard Bank retrenchments, people are going to be increasingly wary about what big business is bringing to the party.
